"The FBI, CIA, and all those different agencies may be getting some of these reports too. Unfortunately, these days, many people don’t trust those agencies."

There is a reason why people no longer trust them, which you mention later.

"However, given the track record of our government, which has so often disseminated falsehoods, any skepticism remains warranted."

How often does one have to be lied to before all trust is gone? Furthermore, when one loses trust in government and its agencies, what will it take to restore that trust? Can it be restored? Isn't it true that building trust requires the telling of truth? One lie, at any time, can wreck a lifetime of trust.

What assurances can you give us that a government built on a "reconditioned" Constitution will be any better than the government which was built on the original? After all, the ink was barely dry in the new State of America when powerful, influential people started shredding it for their own gain. (John Adams and the Sedition Act, for instance)

Since human nature does not change without divine intervention and guidance, why should we expect anything differently only because the imposed rules have changed? Would those in power under a new system refuse to tell us falsehoods or manipulate circumstances to benefit personally? Even if the "founders" (we can't say "fathers" anymore) acted that way, their successors would find a way out of the constraining order and, over time, the whole operation would gradually corrupt and break down.

We've been here before. Until people realize that trust in government, any political government, is misplaced, we will visit this situation over and over again.

Trust in God and God alone is warranted because God never lies. Trust in government is not.

Live not by lies.
